シルバナ・チュさん(第14回ルーマニア国際音楽コンクール声楽部門第1位)にインタビューさせて頂きました。
「ルーマニア国際音楽コンクール」に応募したキッカケ
嶋田(以下S)：ニューヨークからこのコンクールを受けたキッカケを教えてください。
Silvana：私は日本の歌を聴いて育ったので、日本で歌うことは幼い頃からの夢でした。日本には何度も旅行したことがあるので、ルーマニア国際音楽コンクールで歌うことで夢を叶えたいと思っていました。念願が叶い、2018年「第14回ルーマニア国際音楽コンクール」に参加し、第1位を頂きました。その後コロナ禍となってしまい、ルーマニアに演奏旅行に行けたのは2023年です。ルーマニアでコンサートツアーを行った後、ルーマニアへの興味も高まりました。音楽はまさに人々と文化を結びつける国際的な架け橋です。
S：日本については先ほどのお話しの中にも出てきましたが、大好きとおっしゃってくださっていますが、いかがですか？
Silvana：日本は私の一番好きな国で、第二の故郷のようなものです。多くの観光客と同じように、私は日本でのショッピングを楽しんでいます。お気に入りの店は「ハンズ」です。
温泉も大好きなので、ニューヨークの長い冬の間は温泉が恋しくなります。私は日本のイチゴが大好きで、本当に世界一です。日本滞在中は毎日がいちごの日です。ニューヨークで同じ美味しいイチゴを楽しむことはできないからです。
S：ニューヨークでの活躍を教えてください。
Silvana：仕事への関わり方が結果を生むと私は信じています。才能ではなく、演奏のためにどのように準備するかが重要です。私はいつも歌うことに精一杯の努力を惜しみません。なぜなら、結果的に努力の恩恵を受けるのは私自身だからです。歌うことは毎日の積み重ねであり、多くの失敗から学び、多くの練習を通して正しい筋肉の記憶を作り上げる必要があります。あきらめずに努力を続ける限り、チャンスはあります。これらはすべて私の信念であり、成功への鍵となっています。
S：将来の抱負を聞かせてください。
Silvana：生涯で演奏したいオペラやコンサート作品はいくつかあります。既に、バッハのヨハネ受難曲とマルコ受難曲でアルトソリストとして演奏しました。ロッシーニの小ミサ曲は私の一番好きなオラトリオです。今年はこのオラトリオを管弦楽版と2台ピアノ版の両方で演奏できることに感謝しています。
2027年には、バッハの3つの受難曲すべてをアルトソリストとして歌います。
将来はヴェルディのレクイエムとマーラーのコンサート作品を演奏できたらいいなと思っています。アメリカでは蝶々夫人の「鈴木」として何度か歌ったことがあるので、日本で蝶々夫人の「鈴木」として歌うことは私の名誉であり夢です。これが私の抱負です。

We interviewed Silvana Chu (1st place winner of the vocal category of the 14th Romanian International Music Competition).
Q：What motivated you to apply for the Romanian International Music Competition
It has been my dream to sing in Japan since I was little, because I grew up with
Japanese Songs. Since I traveled to Japan many times, I wanted to fulfill my
dream through singing in the Romanian International Music Competition. After
performing the concert tour in Romania in 2023, I also developed my interest in
Romania. Music is truly an international bridge to connect people and culture
together.
Q：About Japan
Japan is my most favorite country, and it is like my 2nd home. I enjoy shopping in
Japan like many tourists, and my favorite store is “Hands”.
I also love Onsen so much that I miss it a lot during the long winter time in New
York. I am deeply in love with Strawberries from Japan, and they are truly the
best in the world. Everyday is Ichigo Day during my stay in Japan, because I
won’t be able to enjoy the same delicious Strawberries in New York.
Q：Your success in the US
I believe how we work will directly change the outcome of our work. It is not
about talent, but how we work for our profession. I always work harder with extra
efforts, because the person who benefits from the efforts is myself. Singing is a
habit, and I need to build up the right muscle memory through many practices
that involve many failures, but as long as we keep trying without giving up, we
have a chance. These are all my beliefs and keys to success.
Q：Your future aspirations
I have some operas and concert works that I would love to perform in my lifetime
as a personal record. I have performed as an Alto Soloist for Bach-St.John
Passion and St. Mark Passion. In 2027, I will sing as an Alto Soloist in St.
Matthew Passion to complete all 3 Passions by Bach. Rossini-Petite Mass is my
most favorite oratorio. I am grateful to perform this oratorio in both Orchestral
version and Two Piano version this year. I hope I will get to perform Verdi’sRequiem and concert works by Mahler in the future. Since I have sung several
times as “Suzuki” in Madama Butterfly in the US, it will be my honor and dream to
sing as “Suzuki” in Madama Butterfly in Japan. This is my aspiration
