George Enescu (1881–1955)
George Enescu was an outstanding Romanian musician of the 20th century. He was a composer, conductor, and pianist, and is considered one of the greatest violinists of the first half of the 20th century, often mentioned alongside Kreisler and Thibaud. His representative works as a composer include "Romanian Rhapsody" and "Violin Sonata No. 3," and his works are heavily influenced by Romanian folk music. Currently, the George Enescu Museum is located in the capital city of Bucharest, and the Enescu International Music Festival (held every two years in September) is a national music festival in which major European orchestras are invited and concerts are held almost daily for about a month.

Romanian pop music that swept the world

American rock, hip-hop, and dance music are very popular among young people in Romania, and many singers and bands are active in the country. "Dragostea Din Tei" (Japanese title: "Dragostea Din Tei") by the three-member group "O-ZONE," who hail from neighboring Moldova but were active in Romania, was a huge hit in Europe, America, and Japan. Incidentally, the original title of this song (in Romanian) translates directly to "Love of the Linden Tree." Although "O-ZONE" has since disbanded, the members are all active as solo artists.
